Disruption payment for Flemish companies hit by coronavirus

The Flemish government has decided that all companies and shops have the right to a lump-sum compensation payment if they have been forced to close their doors due to the measures linked to corona virus. Restaurants, cafés, shops, etc. that have to close completely, but also businesses that only have to stay shut during the weekend, are eligible to receive this ‘corona disruption payment’.

What if I have to close completely?

Business owners that have to close their company down completely will receive a lump-sum subsidy of 4,000 euros, supplemented by an incidental closure payment of 160.00 euros for every day that they have to remain closed after 3 April 2020. Providing takeaway services for customers will not compromise the right to this payment.

What if I only have to close at weekends?

Business owners that only have to close at the weekend can count on a lump-sum subsidy of 2,000 euros. This subsidy will also be supplemented by an incidental closure payment of 160.00 euros for every day that they have to remain closed after 3 April 2020.

Is there a payment for each individual establishment?

Yes, the compensation will be granted for each establishment, provided there is at least 1 full-time equivalent employed per establishment. In any case, the number of payments will be limited to a maximum of 5 per company.

How do I apply for the disruption payment?

Business owners can apply for the support up to 30 days after the obligatory closure period. It will be possible to apply digitally. Through this link, business owners forced to close partially or completely can provide their details. They will then be informed as soon as the application form is available.
